Jonathan achieved a degree in Graphic Design from Cornell University in the late 70′s, but it was through an overwhelming visceral desire to have a more tactile connection to his work that led him, shortly thereafter, to focus all his efforts in becoming a fine woodworking designer. It is a decision he has regretted not even once in the many years he has run Jonathan Cohen Fine Woodworking studios.
Jonathan Jacob Cohen studied graphic design at Cornell, spent several years working his way around the world on a Norwegian cruise ship, and settled in Seattle in the late 70′s. For the last 31 years, he has built a national reputation through shows and galleries across the United States.
He now lives in Seattle with his daughter Vera and son Ulysses in a 100+-year-old pumpkin-colored Craftsman style house with his studio very nearby.
